Thin yellow noodles in hot pork broth with minced pork and pork balls. The noodles soup is considerably more popular than the dry version. The secret of success, we believe, lies with its broth. The stall owners are so confident of the taste of their broth, that they do not serve a small dish of soya sauce with sliced chilli, together with their noodles, as is the usual practice. Instead the sliced chilli are carelessly sprinkled in the bowl. The noodles are highly popular, be prepared for a long wait if you come at peak hours.

We were on familiar grounds at 85 Fengshan Food Centre in the mature neighbourhood estate of Bedok. Our childhood home was just directly opposite.Having moved away for 10 years now, we still missed the food there. With stalls serving a great variety of quality food 24 hours a day, the food centre is packed with people throughout the day, especially at night when diners throng the place for supper.

Love their oyster omelette. Eggs fried till slightly crisp to the bite, with just the right amount of starch added. Oysters added are still raw to the bite. The chilli sauce served is slightly sour, with vinegar added to enhance the taste.

Cream Cakes (S$1.00/ US$0.70)
Traditional cream cakes, nowadays rarely seen, except for older neighbourhood cake shops and bakeries. We bought a slice of blueberry and a slice of chocolate cake home for dessert.
