Dinner at Siam Kitchen

Category :

After a satisfying Saturday tea and lots of window shopping, we stopped at Suntec City's Siam Kitchen for a simple Thai meal.

Between the three of us ladies, we finished off two bowls of Tom Yam seafood soup, 1 Thai mango salad and a BBQ stingray and grilled squid.

The first two dishes satisfied our cravings for a hot and spicy dinner but the BBQ was served pretty cold, especially the grilled squid. The chilli sauce on the stingray was too spicy for us to appreciate it's real taste.

Total cost of meal = $50.60 (includes 2 servings of rice, service charge & GST)

Tea at Octa Hotel Cafe

Category : , ,

Located at the ground floor of Parco Marina Bay nested a western cafe named after the Japanese Octa Hotel.

Shyan, Shin and Mum spent a great Saturday afternoon sipping tea, trying their afternoon tea set and chatting away in the nice, cosy environment.

Their afternoon tea set changes regularly and the servings come in petite bite-sizes.

Dinner at Kimly Seafood

Category : ,

Kimly Seafood is located in one of those coffee shops in Bukit Panjang, adjoining HDB housing estate multi-storey carpark. A zi char stall with good patronage, especially during weekends.

Here are what we had for dinner today:

Stir-fried baby kailan with salted fish ($8). Simple, no frills fried greens.

Frog legs in herbal soup ($10). The kids love the soup boiled with wolfberry , red dates, pepper, young ginger and dangui.

Tofu with pickled radish (otherwise known as cai poh). Deep fried silken tofu with a thin layer of pickled radish and thick gravy. ($15)

Crabs with salted egg yolks. Creamy paste of salted egg yolks, curry leaves and chilli padi. ($36 per kg). Great dish!

We often come over for zi char meals. Their one dish meals, like seafood hor fun and fried rice, are average. Their ala carte dishes are pretty good, translating to good business.

Address: Blk 163A #01-01 Gangsa Road Singapore 761163
Tel: 6314 5436
Total cost of meal: $83.60 (including 4 plates of rice and napkins)

Dinner at The Dining Room, Sheraton Towers

Category : , , ,

After a hiatus of more than a year, Food Lingo's back with a vengeance!

With a simpler style, we will blog more often about all the yummy food In our lives....starting tonight!!

**************************************************

It's Women's Only Wednesday (WOW) buffet dinner tonight at Sheraton Towers' The Dining Room, where all females get to enjoy a 50% off the usual price of $58++. That's $68.25, including tax and service charge for a table of 2 females.

The main theme is seafood, Mediterranean style cuisine and lots of choices for desserts for those with a sweet tooth.

The standard of the food is generally okay. The sashimi counter offers tuna, salmon, fresh shrimps and octopus. For the chilled seafood counter, take your pick from oysters, mussels, prawns, crayfishes and crabs.

The choices of soup yesterday was Cream of Asparagus and Lotus Root and Chicken. For salads, it is D-I-Y with fresh greens, dressings and toppings.

Also had a go at the Mediterranean hot dishes but it was the desserts that are appealing. The desserts range is reasonably good. Besides some cakes and pastries, there is the chocolate fondue, frozen yogurt and ice creams (fig sherbet and rosemary flavour) to choose from. Sadly though, the waffles and macaroons are not really up to the mark.

Reasonably good buffet meal at a 5-star hotel that does not break the bank.
