Date: 5th June 2010
Venue: Carabao Restaurant, Johor Bahru, Johor
Country: Malaysia
Cuisine: Thai
Meal: Dinner
We were pleasantly surprised by the good food served during the last visit, so we're back to try out more of their dishes.
However, due to the dim lighting during the night time, this time around, the photos are nothing to shout about. Moreover, this time around the food ordered did not taste as good as our first visit. Wonder why.
Thai Sizzling Toufu (RM12.90 / US$3.95)
Deep fried toufu on a thin layer of omelette, topped with mixed vegetable, mushroom and minced meat. Ordered this thinking that our junior can have the gravy with his rice. Yet the dish turned up to be spicy as well. To think we are told this is a non-spicy dish....

Somtum (RM10.90 / US$3.30)
Thai green papaya salad; strips of green papaya, cucumber and carrot with thai dressing, topped with deep fried anchovies. We ordered the mildly hot version (with only 2 chili padi). The reduced spiciness may have resulted in the lessened appeal of the dish.

Otak-Otak (RM18.90 / US$5.75)
Made from steaming a mixture of spices, coconut milk and chunks of seafood on a bed of thai basil, wrapped in aluminium foil. We do not fancy this dish though as it taste too strongly of basil. The most expensive dish of the night, yet the most disappointing.

Tom Yam Seafood Soup (RM14.90 / US$4.55)
Hot tasty tom yam soup with chucks of seafood. Real comfort food.

Petai Fried Rice (RM12.90 / US$3.95)
New item in the menu, so we just ordered it for a try. Turns out to be pretty common tasting fried rice, with petai stirred in.
